I wire things together so they work

Twenty-five years building solutions inside global corporates. The last few doing it hands-on for small businesses — starting one, running it, and building the websites and software it runs on.

The business I run

Licensed automotive security, started December 2024. It's also where everything else on this page gets proven — the site, the software and the systems all run this business before I'd put them near anyone else's.

Evolve Autotech

Software I've built

Two custom applications running in production inside Evolve Autotech. Not prototypes — they do real work every week, on real customer jobs. Both sit behind a login, so here's what they do rather than a link.

Social Post Creator

Turns a finished job into a published social post. Pick the job, drop in the photos, and it composites them, writes a caption to the brand's own rules, and posts or schedules to Facebook and Instagram.

The job list is imported straight from the workshop spreadsheet, so the tool always knows which installs have been delivered but never posted. Two hundred and fifty jobs went in on the first import; forty-three of them were sitting unposted.

Does
Photo compositing · AI captions · Facebook and Instagram publishing · scheduled posting
Built with
PHP and MariaDB server-side, vanilla JavaScript in the browser. No framework, no build step.
Connected to
Anthropic API for captions, Meta Graph API for publishing
Scheduling
Background worker on a fifteen-minute tick
Customer privacy
Phone, email, VIN, rego and serial numbers are structurally excluded from the import — the tool can only read the columns it was told about
Tested by
129-assertion harness run against the real spreadsheet, not sample data
Social Post Creator interface: the plate cover editor on the left with drag handles over a number plate, and the finished square social post on the right with the plate covered by the Evolve emblem.
Left — fitting the cover to the plate. Right — the finished post, ready to publish.

IGLA Guide Builder

Every car hides its buttons somewhere different, so every customer gets a guide built for their car. Photograph the dash, the wheel and the console, ring the buttons that matter, and the printed owner's guide lays itself out around them.

Save a car's settings and photos when you're done, and the next one of the same model takes a minute.

Does
Per-vehicle photo annotation · plate covering · background removal · print-ready owner's guide
Annotation
Circle, box, arrow and text marks — duplicated, rotated and nudged into place with the arrow keys
Reuse
Save a car's settings and photos, load them for the next one of the same model
Built with
Single-file HTML and JavaScript, one PHP helper. Runs on the same shared hosting as everything else.
Customer privacy
Plates covered before the guide leaves the browser. Nothing is stored.
State
Live and in use on every install handover
The IGLA Guide Builder: annotated photos of a Nissan Patrol's climate controls, steering wheel, console dial and shifter listed on the left, and on the right the finished guide page showing those same photos captioned and laid out.
Photograph the car's own buttons, ring the ones that matter, and the guide lays itself out around them.

Build one for your business

The repetitive job that eats your Sunday — quoting, reporting, chasing, writing the same document forty different ways. That's the one worth building. Start with the chore, not the technology.

How I build

Plain code, and you own it

Every site and tool here is hand-written HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP. That's a deliberate choice, and it's the difference between a site you own and a site you rent.

Nothing to patch

No plugins, no themes, no page builder. Most small business sites get hacked through something the owner didn't know was installed.

Fast by default

No framework, no build step, no database call to render a page. It's already the fastest thing it can be.

Findable

Structured data, Open Graph tags and canonical URLs set up properly at the first upload — not bolted on by a plugin later.

Portable

Files you can take to any host, open in any editor, and hand to anyone. No licence, no subscription, no lock-in.

Work with me

What I take on

Websites

A site that actually sells the business, live in weeks. Copy and structure included — that's usually the part that stalls everyone else.

Custom software

An application built for one job in one business. Quoting tools, document generators, content and publishing workflows, internal admin that removes a recurring chore.

Tenders & fit-outs

Writing the tender response, then managing the delivery. Commercial fit-outs, make-goods and back-to-base handovers.

Small business consulting

Sitting alongside an owner on the messy operational work — suppliers, importing, systems, marketing, finance — and making it run without them.

Background

Twenty-five years of it

Epsilon

Sixteen years in data-driven marketing technology. Five of them running the Asia Pacific business — eight offices, six countries.

Signature Camper Trailers

Helped establish a vehicle manufacturing and importing start-up from nothing. Marketing, finance, supply chain, sales. Sold as a going concern; still trading today.

Innovative Commercial Projects

Wrote the winning tender for Opera Australia's Melbourne headquarters fit-out, then helped deliver it. Several more tenders since.

Solaris Paper

Managed the back-to-base office make-good end to end.

Property

Two successful house flips, project managed personally.

Little Rewards

Award-winning iPhone app — a fully customisable rewards program for families. Built with my wife, well ahead of its time.

You are the most highly adaptable person I have ever worked with.

Got something that needs building?

Tell me what the problem is. If I'm the right person for it I'll say so, and if I'm not I'll usually know who is.
